Before catching the train, we went to Mass at the Barcelona Cathedral. The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia was built between the 13th and 15th centuries. St. Eulalia was a virgin martyr from Roman times and her body is entombed in the Cathedral's crypt.

The Cathedral's cloister. 13 geese are always kept in this cloister representing the age of St. Eulalia when she died.

The Cathedral seemed to be heavily guarded so many areas were closed. We had to depart anyway for our train to Madrid. The trip on the AVE fast train covered the 386 mile distance in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

After our tour group disbanded, we were on our own for a few days.  Today was mainly a travel day as we planned to take the train from Barcelona to Madrid in the afternoon.
