Malta

We arrived in Valletta, the capital of Malta, on a beautiful, bright sunny day.  The buildings were wonderfully preserved and modern sculpture was interspersed everywhere among the historical buildings. It was undoubtedly one of the cleanest cities we have ever encountered. After touring the center of the city, we visited the Tarxien Temples, dating from 3150 B.C. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site was discovered in the early 20th century and established an ancient culture on the island thousands of years ago. We concluded with a trip to Mdina, a well preserved city of 300 persons surrounded by a suburb of 11,000.

Beautiful harbor and spotless cities
