At Sea

April 2, 2018

Since everyone was out and about during the three days in Havana, the ship held its Easter brunch the day after Easter during a day at sea.  It was quite a feast and, as usual, no one lacked food.  Also, during our time at sea before we arrived at our next port of Cienfuegos, we passed the Bay of Pigs site about fifty miles west of Cienfuegos. It was there in April of 1961 that a group of counter-revolutionaries aided by the CIA attempted to land and overthrow Castro.  The effort failed miserably. Castro’s victory over U.S. influenced forces made him a national hero in Cuba.
