On the boat enroute to the hotel in Venice

First, a bus took us on a two-hour drive from Trieste to the Venice airport where the hotel picked us up by car to drive as far as possible into central Venice. Then we transferred

to this luxurious water taxi that took us directly to the hotel’s dock—it was complicated but efficient.

Artificial flowers in a shop window near the hotel-it’s hard to tell what they are made out of but probably portions are glass.

St. Mark’s Square—we enjoyed a leisurely beverage at the cafe in the background.

On a previous visit, there was flooding in the square. It still occurs but less frequently.

The square seemed much less crowded than on a previous visit.

From the cafe, we enjoyed watching this little girl feed the pigeons—she was very popular with the birds.

Time to go home—in the water taxi on the way to the airport.

Arriving at the dock, where a car was waiting to take us to the airport.
